Slow Food: cornish crosses and jersey giants

Recently since I posted an instagram story on my meat chicks, I’ve been receiving questions on why I chose to go with a non mainstream meat bird that is also one of the slowest growing (The Jersey White). I had so many reasons to purchase this bird as a means to raising meat sustainably and, in order to make the decision and recognize those reasons, I had to check in with my values and the “why” behind the feelings I have on raising or hunting our protein sources. In the video below, I get into why it is I chose not to go with a traditional Cornish cross, my thoughts on it, and my opinions on slow food.
