Rose and Cacao Moon Milk

Sometimes our adrenals need a break- more than a break, they need healing. During the colder months I enjoy making this adaptogenic tonic as a way to warn myself in the evening as opposed to coffee however, during times of high stress and chaos, I’ll replace coffee entirely with different variations of this ancient soothing liquid.

WHAT IS MOON MILK?

Ayurveda – which translates from Sanskrit as “The Science of Life”, is a Hindu ancient healing system of the body. They believed that all fuss have either a cooling or warning effect on the buddy and therefore used these ideas and methodologies to heal and balance the body. Moon milk is a combination of warm milk, spices and herbs that help to rest, restore and balance hormones. It helps to protect the body against stress, kill inflammation (the leading cause of disease in the body) obtain sound and deep sleep and strengthen the immune system.

One of best things about this delicious healer is that it’s safe for young children and can give the same benefits regardless of age. I use this cacao version as a replacement for hot chocolate in my home!

A DISCLAIMER

I don’t measure when I cook ( if you’ve been following me a while, you knife I’ve mentioned this 😅)

All spices are 1/2 or 1tsp worth per 8oz of milk

CACAO vs COCOA - there is a massive difference!

Because it’s been processed at such low temperatures, cacao powder retains all of its enzymes, vitamins, and nutrients and is considered “raw.” The temperature at which it’s heated is the primary difference between cacao vs. cocoa powder. Protein, calcium, carotene, thiamin, riboflavin, magnesium, sulfur, flavonoids, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids are all found in trace amounts, along with more antioxidants than most fruits and veggies.

RECIPE

• Milk (I prefer raw)

• Cacao (unsweetened)

• Cardamom 1/2 tsp or less (she’s potent)

• Black pepper

• Turmeric

• Ashwagandha

• Rose infused honey (I have some available)

INSTRUCTIONS

Bring milk on stove to a simmer, then shut off the heat. Add all of your dry ingredients and incorporate with a whisk.

Pour into a cup and add your rose honey to taste. Leave a little less sweet.

Froth your moon milk then drizzle rose honey atop.

Enjoy!
